Children of Planet Earth draws heavily on my eight years as a writer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where much of my job involved translating complex missions, science, and engineering into stories accessible to laypeople. That experience gave me a firsthand look at the people, personalities, and peculiar culture behind deep-space exploration. In developing the script, I also consulted with longtime NASA engineers—including several who worked on Voyager—who shared their experiences, read drafts, and provided feedback on the science and technical details. The goal was to build a science-fiction thriller that could get very strange without losing its footing in the real world.
