I wrote this screenplay with my brother, who is also a screenwriter, inspired by the remarkable true story of our ancestor Ebenezer Fox, who went off to fight in the American Revolution as a teenager and lived to write about it. His firsthand account, The Revolutionary Adventures of Ebenezer Fox, was first published in 1838 and chronicles a life of seafaring adventures, imprisonment, and survival. We wanted to tell the Revolution from a perspective you don't often see: not through the eyes of generals or founding fathers, but through those of a boy who goes looking for adventure and gets a rather brutal education in what war actually means. The screenplay was a 2018 Academy Nicholl Fellowships quarterfinalist.
