NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA is the leading center for interplanetary robotic space exploration, responsible for some of the agency’s most ambitious missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

Current Role:
Senior Storyteller & Communications Designer (2+ Years)
Previous Role: Lead Communications Specialist (4 Years)
Strategy, Design & Writing
As a Lead Communications Specialist for four years and a Senior Storyteller & Communications Designer for two more, I developed the visual strategy and design for a range of internal communications at the Lab, including the mobile app interface, posters displayed across the facility, presentations, and other collateral. My goal was to create cohesive, engaging visuals that clearly communicated complex technical information while reinforcing the Lab’s brand identity. By balancing usability with aesthetic appeal, I ensured that each piece effectively supported user needs and enhanced overall engagement within the organization. Below are some examples of my work.

Shaping the Lab's Compelling Narrative
As part of a small editorial team, I wrote and edited key sections of JPL’s 2024 Annual Report, helping to tell the story of the Lab’s accomplishments over the year. I interviewed scientists, engineers, and leaders across missions and departments to capture compelling narratives that highlighted JPL’s impact and innovation. In addition to writing, I supported project management and coordinated closely with the design team to ensure the final product was cohesive, visually engaging, and aligned with the Lab’s communication goals.
Mobile App UX & UI Design
I designed the user experience and interface of JPL’s internal mobile app, focusing on clarity, usability, and visual consistency. The app streamlined access to essential resources, helping employees navigate Lab life more efficiently.

Internal Campaign Branding & Design

I designed internal communications posters to promote news, events, and initiatives across the Lab. Each piece was crafted to capture attention, foster engagement, and strengthen a sense of community among employees.
Video Shooting, Editing & Producing
For multiple internal and external videos, I handled all aspects of production — from planning and shooting on location at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to editing and finalizing the piece. This video highlights six interns deeply involved in developing and testing hardware and software for CADRE, NASA’s innovative lunar rover project. I focused on capturing authentic, engaging moments that showcase the interns’ hands-on contributions and the cutting-edge technology behind the mission. My editing approach balanced technical detail with storytelling to create a compelling narrative that connects viewers with the excitement and ambition of lunar exploration.
Channels & Platforms
I coordinated multiple internal communication platforms, including Slack, email, the internal website CMS, newsletters, YouTube, print materials, and digital media. By managing content distribution and ensuring consistent messaging across channels, I helped streamline information flow and improve engagement within the JPL community. This multi-platform approach allowed us to reach diverse audiences effectively and support the Laboratory’s communication goals.
Newsletters
I managed, designed, and produced a weekly newsletter distributed to over 6,000 JPL employees. From content planning and writing to layout and visual design, I ensured each edition was engaging, informative, and aligned with internal communication goals. The newsletter served as a vital channel for sharing news, updates, and stories that fostered connection across the Laboratory community.
Events & Culture Building
I organized and produced events that brought JPL employees together to celebrate our shared history and build community culture. Highlights include a historic tree walk exploring the Lab’s landscape, a JPL pin collections showcase that connected enthusiasts across departments, and a special event unveiling the Europa Clipper vault plate. These gatherings fostered camaraderie, sparked conversations, and strengthened a sense of belonging among staff.
